The NDIS offers funding to eligible individuals with disabilities to enhance their quality of life by providing opportunities for more time with family and friends, increased independence, access to new skills, employment or volunteer opportunities in their community, and overall improvement in their well-being.
Additionally, the NDIS assists people with disabilities in connecting with various services available in their communities. This includes access to medical professionals, community groups, sports clubs, support groups, libraries, schools, and information about the support provided by each state and territory government.
Currently, the NDIS supports over 500,000 Australians with disabilities, ensuring they have access to the necessary services and supports. This includes providing early intervention support to approximately 80,000 children with developmental delays, aiming to maximise their potential and achieve positive outcomes throughout their lives.
If you’re considering applying for NDIS plan funding but are unsure if you meet the eligibility criteria, there are resources you can use for guidance. You can refer to the NDIS eligibility checklist available at: https://www.ndis.gov.au/applying-access-ndis/am-i-eligible
